Server 2008 and IP Office

Currently Server 2008 is not supported by Avaya for any IP Office Applications (Voicemail Pro, CCC, Contact Store, Delta Server, Wallboard Server, etc.). Some of the applications are supported on Vista Business. In the Microsoft development methodology, Server 2008 is for Vista like Server 2003 is for XP. So it may possibly work to some extent and I decided to give it a try.
The install portion worked great, no major errors when installing according to the installation guide. There were no accounts created in the C:\Program Files\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\Accounts folder, so I knew something was wrong. The next step was adjusting the firewall with the AvayaFW.bat script. Execution of this script does require elevation in order to work correctly. The accounts folders were created and *17 got me the voicemail prompt as it should.
I then made some adjustments to the IP Office which required a reboot. This is where things went downhill quick. The Service lost contact with the IP Office, per Voicemail Debug, and never recovered. Restarting the service failed also. Rebooting the server had trouble closing the Voicemil Pro client.
Needless to say, Server 2008 deployments are not quite ready for deployment. I would expect support sometime later this year for an upcoming release, but steer clear of the new server OS for current installations.

After a new update this installation was MUCH closer to working as it should. Server 2008 support may be closer.
