Avaya IP DECT Tips
Installing an Avaya IP DECT system can be tricky at times. This article will explain a few common problems when installing an IP DECT system and some tips about DECT Monitor.

Enabling DECT Monitor
The DECT monitor has to be enabled before it can be used. This is done by loging into your Avaya IP DECT Mobility Manager (ADMM) and then going to System then System Settings and selecting the DECT Monitor checkbox. Note that once enabled it the ADMM interface will show what IP address is connected to DECT Monitor out to the right.

Running DECT Monitor
When DECT Monitor is first started it will prompt for the IP Address of the ADMM. Enter this and then press OK.

Hint: RFPs not Syncing
To view the status of RFPs in a list go to List RFP/PP then select RFP. This will pop up a list of all your RFPs that have been put into ADMM. Double check your settings. If you don’t have an IP address assigned it will show here.

In the ADMM go to System Features then Directory. Under Type set it to either TFTP or LDAP. The example below is pulling from an IP Office system.

In DECT monitor look at the RFP Table. As you can see in the table below handset 001 is connected to RFP 01. RFP 00 would be the ADMM.

Hint: TFPT and IP DECT
An IP DECT RFP base station does not keep the firmware if the unit looses power. This means that you will need to leave a TFTP server up and running at all times so that if power is lost the RFP can download the firmware. This makes it easy to upgrade the RFP as well since you just need to put the new tftp file in the TFTP root and reboot the RFPs.
