Upgrading Embedded Voicemail Prompts Using TFTP

There have been several updates to Embedded Voicemail over the last few releases of IP Office. When Avaya adds a feature like Dial by Name to Embedded Voicemail, the Embedded Voicemail card itself needs new audio prompts to accommodate the new feature. Oftentimes this is overlooked and when an individual tries to access Dial by Name through an Embedded Voicemail Auto Attendant, they are met with silence and assume the feature is broken. In reality, the feature is working fine but the Embedded Voicemail card lacks the audio prompts necessary to accommodate the new feature. (continue reading…)

The majority of IP Office Control Units are fitted with Voicemail Pro systems. Voicemail Pro is a great system that offers a lot of customization and flexibility. Some smaller businesses don’t need all of the bells and whistles of Voicemail Pro, and that’s the niche that Embedded Voicemail fills. We receive a lot of calls regarding basic Embedded Voicemail programming. There are some fundamental differences in the way Embedded Voicemail is programmed versus the way Voicemail Pro is programmed. Replay Greeting in Embedded VM

On embedded VM if the customer is using morning (*81xx)/afternoon (*82xx)/evening (*83xx) greetings they still need to record menu options (*84xx) greeting as well, this is needed in order for the replay greeting feature to work. So if the customer wants to use a morning greeting they can record “Good morning thank you for calling…..etc” but they will need to record menu options as well were they tell the caller “press one for… and two for…”

Mailbox User Guides IP Office Voicemail

IP Office has multiple voicemail options each with different mailbox options.  There is Voicemail Pro, the full featured, fully customizable, server based voicemail.  Voicemail Pro has two interface options or modes: IP Office mode, or Intuity mode.  Intuity mode is the more familiar interface that is derived from the Intuity Audix days, and is used on most voicemail systems.  IP Office mode mimics the smaller Embedded Voicemail and Voicemail Lite options.  Embedded Voicemail, the internal compact flash based solution, uses the simplified IP Office mode style prompts, but is even more simplified.  Voicemail lite, is free, voicemail only, and uses the IP Office prompts.  Below are user guides to each systems interface.

Direct to Voicemail SC

In IP Office 3.2 Avaya releases a tip for a direct to Voicemail  short code that makes direct voicemail calls about as easy as they come.  For a 4 digit extension simply #xxxx | #N | Voicemail Collect | 0 .  Then to get the mail box simply dial # followed by the extension number.  The code worked great until the 4.1(15) manager and the 4.2 beta code was released.
