Supported Excel Versions for the Catalyst ConfigTool

Since the Catalyst ConfigTool is build on Excel there are only certain versions that have been found to work without error.  These versions are Excel 2003 Service Pak 3, Excel 2007 Service Pak 1/2 and Excel 2010 (32/64-bit versions).  Not running the correct version can corrupt your ConfigTool and/or cause it just not to run.  To find out what version of Excel you are running perform the following:

Catalyst ConfigTool v5 Q & A 

Q. What versions of Microsoft Excel are supported to run the Catalyst ConfigTool?

A. Supported versions are:

  • Excel 2003 SP3Excel
  • Excel 2007 SP1 or SP2 
  • Excel 2010 32bit

Excel 2010 64bit is still in testing.  All other versions of Excel might work and they might not.  Open Office does not support Microsoft Forms and cannot be supported.

Clearing Internet Explorer Cache

Sometimes you have issues with the Catalyst ConfigTool password not working when trying to download a new version.  This is because Internet Explorer caches files and if a file that is referenced has the same file name as one in cache it will pull the old one.  This means you are not really downloading the file again, the file is coming from the local system.  To fix this try to clear your IE cache.  This can be done by following these few easy steps:
